Since I was first elected in 2007, I’ve worked hard to represent my home state of SA and to give a voice to those who are too often forgotten in Canberra. I’m in the Federal Parliament because I understand that business as usual isn’t good enough anymore.

I’m proud of the work we have done together in fighting to protect the environment and our renewable energy industry, saving our River Murray and the Great Australian Bight, standing up for fairness for refugees, and advocating for equality for members of our community often left behind by big business and weak politicians.

Sarah believes that our economy must deliver for both people and planet.

Our generation is the first to see the impacts of climate change – and we are the last who can stop it. There is no time to lose in reducing carbon pollution and moving to a zero-emission economy.

This means investing in renewable energy, green-powered industry, phasing out fossil fuels and banning new coal mines. Climate change looms as the biggest driver of inequality of the next generation. Sarah is a strong advocate for making sure no-one is left behind as we transition to a cleaner and safer world.
