GLENELG BIGHTS BACK - Urgent action: Fight for the Bight
Saturday 16 March, 11:00am to 1:00pm at Glenelg - Moseley Square.
Gather at Mosley Square Glenelg for a 'mock' oil spill clean up. Bring your banners, dress up and let’s help raise awareness that we will not allow our Bight to become collateral damage! This event is child-friendly and positive. Please bring drums, whistles and cameras as well as your best SIGN. More information.

ADELAIDE BIGHT BACK DOORKNOCK!
Saturday 16 March, 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at St Helen's Park, 1 Koonga Ave, Prospect
Join the Adelaide Doorknock Team as they speak with the community about the devastating impacts drilling for oil will have on our Great Australian Bight and on Climate Change, and how the Greens will oppose this environmental vandalism. HINDMARSH BIGHTS BACK!

Regional events

PORT LINCOLN BIGHTS BACK!
Sunday March 17, 10am to 12pm. Meet at the foreshore to hear from a line-up of inspiring speakers, followed by a paddle out to show we say NO to Big Oil in the Great Australian Bight. BYO BANNERS, SURFBOARD, BODYBOARD, PADDLEBOARD, CANOE OR OTHER WATER CRAFT. Even in you can’t paddle out – come anyway and show your support! An information session about lodging your submission against Equinor’s drilling plans to be held after the paddle out at the beer garden from 1pm. STREAKY BAY Paddle out for the Bight! 
Saturday March 16, 11am at the Streaky Bay jetty. Come along to the Streaky Bay jetty with a surfboard, SUP, canoe, kayak (any kind of paddling vessel!) at 11am and show your support for an oil and gas free Great Australian Bight 🐳 If you don't have something to paddle on, please come along anyway to show your support! Bring signs and posters telling Equinor we don't want them here. Please share this on your page or tag your friends to spread the word.

CEDUNA Paddles out for the Bight!
Saturday March 16 - 12pm. Meet on the beach by the Jetty . Bring your boards, boats and everything in between! Participants welcome to join from the beach. Show your support for an oil and gas free Great Australian Bight.

KANGAROO ISLAND, Vivonne Bay - Message in the sand for the Bight!
Saturday, March 16 - 12pm
– Meet on the beach next to the stairs. Join us on the beach and together we will write a message in the sand which shows your support for an oil and gas free Great Australian Bight.

 

If you can't make one of the events above...

Below are some #BightBack Day of Action ideas you could do to help get the word out there.

  • Make 10 phone calls to friends and family about the Bight;
  • flyer a popular local hot spot, such as a market with campaign flyers;
  • Write a message in the sand at a local beach;
  • Paint a banner and display it on a jetty or busy road;
  • Host a house party letter writing session;
  • Post a video message on social media.

Get creative and show we want the Bight protected, the limit is our imagination.
